From all of us at P.S. 15, we wish you and your families the very best this holiday season.
Hurricane Sandy Relief for P.S. 15 Staff
As you know, Hurricane Sandy was one of the largest and fiercest storms to hit the east coast in years. The Red Hook community has been left devastated and we at P.S. 15 have efforts under way to provide support to our students and their families. Many of our staff members were adversely affected as well, and because we have had so many offers to help them, we have created this page to organize that support.

Many Thanks!
A huge thank you to community members, school staff, family and friends near and far! Your generous donations have made it possible for us to present a solid amount of money to each of our three staff members who suffered great losses due to Hurricane Sandy. It was our wish that they begin the new year with support in their continued recovery efforts, and your contributions made this happen. A very special thank you to Georgia F and The Cookie Kids who held a bake sale to raise money for our staff members and our school!

P.S. 15 is the amazing school that it is
because of our dedicated staff members.
Our teachers, therapists, paraprofessionals, school aides and other
support staff work to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment and
we are humbled by your dedication to help them put their lives back together
after this stressful event.
We have numerous staff members whose homes have been badly damaged and who must relocate, repair or rebuild. In one case, our occupational therapist and mother of two young boys has lost every possession her family owned as their apartment filled with water during the storm. Another coworker, a paraprofessional who provides individual support for our students with intellectual disabilities was rescued from her flooded apartment, dragged out as water was pouring in the front door. These women were not living in evacuation areas! We are still gathering information as to the extent of our staff’s losses, but the outpouring of support is so great that we wanted to establish a fund to accept and distribute donations right away.
